Turkey hunting can be very fun and exciting, especially when you hear one gobbling and coming your way. It can be a challenge though. Finding a mature tom and then hunting him can be a task, it's even harder when they are getting pressured by other hunters. When we are hunting pressured areas, we start with soft yelps and we can usually get one to gobble back. If they don't gobble that does not mean they aren't around. Make sure when you start calling you have a face mask and gloves on. Be prepared for one to come your way because a lot of times they will come in silent. We always make sure we are well hid from them. Hunting out of a ground blind is an excellent choice but when that isn't a choice, sit next to a tree and make some cover with leaves and sticks. Great camouflage is essential to staying hid as well, we use God's Country Camo and we have great success with there patterns. There late season pattern is great when its early in the season and there isn't any leaves on the trees and when the leaves are on the trees there early season pattern is a great option. Listening for Turkeys scratching while your sitting or walking is very important. When you know your in the area where they are using, if you are walking, walk really slow and make all your movements slow and listen for them scratching, if your sitting and there not gobbling or yelping, listen really closely for them scratching. This has helped us many times to pinpoint exactly where there at. If the turkeys aren't doing much gobbling or yelping, we always do soft yelps. If they are making a lot of noise we tend to get more aggressive with our calling. When its raining, turkeys usually don't make much or if any noise at all, we usually hunt food plots or fields in these conditions. They almost always produce turkeys. While your out turkey hunting try these tips and techniques, happy hunting.

The 2014 Turkey Season has got off to a great start. The weather was cool and rainy. Adam harvested this Gobbler around ten in the morning and he came in silent. He was hunting close to a nearby field and it was on its way down there. Adam clucked and purred with his Knight & Hale Ol'Yeller Slate Call and it came in close enough for a shot. He self filmed it out of a Ameristep Blind. Always hunt a field or a food plot when it is raining or wet. Turkeys will go there and feed and stay around hens most of the time when the weather is like that. That is one of our favorite times to hunt for turkeys. But when you don't hear them gobble and you know there in the area, stay put and keep calling. They could come in silent so be prepared and make sure you are well camouflaged. We always wear God's County Camouflage to keep us out of sight. Make sure you scout the place you are going to hunt the evening before you go. We always do that especially when we are hunting a new area. Remember to be patient and even if you don't hear them gobbling, it doesn't mean that they aren't coming to you. It has been a very cold start to our turkey season. It has rain and snowed and we have been hunting through it all trying to harvest a big longbeard. Hopefully we will get some warm weather that will make the turkeys start moving. We always try to find a spot where the turkeys have been scratching or where they are roosting. When we find that spot, we put out decoys and start calling with a Slate or Box call. If you don't hear anything be patient and keep calling and sitting because sometimes a gobbler will come in silent so be on the look out. Make sure you are hid so it will be harder for them to see you and wear good camo such as Realtree AP Green if the leafs are green and if the leafs aren't green yet wear Realtree AP. We also make a small brush blind when we are turkey hunting so it will make it harder for them to tell what you are and they will come closer. Try these things and you will have a good hunt. We look foward to turkey hunting this spring. We always scout before the season starts. A week or two before it starts, we go and look for turkey scratching and we also go out of the mornings or late evenings and do crow or owl calls to see if we can get any to answer back. Once we find where the turkey's are, we determine where we will set up for a gobbler. Try this before your turkey season starts and you will have success. We are back in the woods again hunting big gobblers in North Georgia. We are filming and trying to get some Turkey Hunting videos on You Tube. Turkey hunting can be tough here because there is not alot of turkeys, so you have to be in the right place where they are making sign or roosting. We will be using the best camoflauge we have ever used and it is Realtree AP. We will also be using Primos calls, Knight & Hale calls, and decoy's to fool the Gobblers. Adam and Steven are hunting hard and filming so we will have some videos soon.
This spring should be great for Turkey hunting. We have been seeing a lot of good gobblers and alot of hens so it should be a good year. We will be putting Turkey hunting videos on You Tube in the spring.
