Spring is a great time of year to catch big trout. The Creeks and Rivers water temperatures warm up and trout start biting. In Spring, we always like to throw small jerkbaits such as a Rapala Countdown in the small sizes or spinners. We throw them around slow moving water close to the current and under trees that are overhanging. We also like to throw small trout worms and bread on a trout hook with a split shot sinker. We use these baits on Ultra Light Spinning Gear for creeks and small streams and for big rivers we use Medium Spinning gear. We use 6-8 pound test for these techniques. For Fly Fishing, we like Wooly Boogers or Beadhead Nymphs in the Spring. These baits and tecniques are proven to catch big trout in the Spring.
