Summer can be a fun time of year to catch Trout and Panfish. When looking for Bluegill and other panfish in Lakes and Ponds, we look in the shallows around blow downs, grass, and docks. We catch them with small curly tail jigs, small hair jigs, small crankbaits, and spinners. Use a Ultra Light Rod and Reel and 6 to 8 pound test. We catch a lot of Panfish using these baits and techniques. For Trout, we like to fish early in the morning or late in the evening. We throw Small Crankbaits such as Rapala Original Floaters and Countdowns in the small sizes, Spinners , and Salmon eggs. We put all these baits on Light or Medium Light rod's and reels and use 6 to 8 pound test and it all depends on the size of the fish and of the creek or river you are fishing. For Fly Fishing, are favorite fly's this time of year are Wooly Buggers, Grasshopper or Cricket imitators, or a worm imitator. We like to throw them under trees overhanging the bank and in shady places. Try these baits and techniques and you will be sure to catch Trout and Panfish during the Summer.
